What to do in the capital of Slovenia?
Start your trip at the three bridges and Prešeren square. Prešeren was the Slovenian poet who wrote national anthem ‘Zdravljica’. There you can visit Franciscan Monastery and the Church of the Annuciation from the 17th century. From there take a walk along the Ljubljanica river to the Dragon bridge with famous dragon statues. After walk you can relax during boat ride on the Ljubljanica river and take a look around Ljubljana from the other side.
Very close to the Prešeren square you can find Town hall where is the present seat of the Municipality of Ljubljana. You can enter it and watch different exhibitions. In front of the Town hall you will see Robba fountain which was also known as the Fountain of the Three Carniolan Rivers. One of very important Slovenian building is Parliament which you can find in the center.
Take a walk or a funicular to the Ljubljana castle on the hill over center. There you can take a guided tour in the castle or just enjoy the spectacular view over the city for free. If you like hiking you can decide to go to the Mount Saint Mary (Šmarna gora) or Rožnik. Both hills are very popular among the people from Ljubljana and around. The most popular trail to the Mount Saint Mary is from the Tacen. There is parking (0,6 Eur for first 2 hours and 0,6 Eur every subsequent hour) so from there to the church at Mount Saint Mary you’ll need 30-45 minutes. While the Rožnik is lower hill above the Tivoli park. I highly recommend easy walk through Tivoli to the Rožnik where you can drink or eat something.
The youngest and the young at heart can close to the Rožnik enjoy in the ZOO. There you can admire different animals like bear, tiger, different monkeys, elephant, giraffe and more. At a certain hour you can watch the feeding and training of the certain animal.
