Prekmurje is the region and means over Mura (river). It is on the northeastern part of Slovenia. The region borders three countries: Croatia, Hungary and Austria. Check the list of the top 5 things to do in Prekmurje.

1. Vinarium Lendava

Vinarium Lendava is the tower with its 53.5 meters of height. It is offering amazing 360° view over four countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Hungary). It stands on the hill of the Lendavske gorice. To the top of the tower you can take an elevator or climb up to 240 stairs. From the top of the tower you can enjoy the view over colourful lanscape and its vineyards. And don’t foget to make a selfi 🙂 On the ground floor you can relax with a cup of coffee in the bar or in front of the tower you can try any of the typical food in the wooden houses.

2. Terme 3000

In Prekmurje you can visit many spa and pools. One of the biggest and more popular thermal spa Around Slovenia is definitely Terme 3000 – Moravske Toplice. There you can enjoy in the enormous water park with many outdoor slides and different inner pools.

3. Bukovniško Lake

Bukovniško Lake is in the municipality Dobrovnik. It is good place for relax, fishing, camping and different sports activities. Close to the Lake you can find Chapel of St. Vid, next to it murmurs the spring with the same name with water, which has energy power and many healing effects. 26 energy points of beneficial and healing radiation offer relaxation and renewal of vital energies.

4. Discover the authentic local cuisine

Prekmurje is also known for their cuisine. I am sure that many people already heard about Prekmurska gibanica (Prekmurje layer pastry). More about Prekmurska gibanica you can read here (number 40).

Another popular food in Prekmurje is Bograč, it is like goulash and consist at least three types of meat. You have to try also bujta repa and dödöli. Bujta repa is consisting from pork bone, sour beets and millet porridge. While dödöli is made from potatoes, flour and salt.

5. Bike Around Prekmurje

Prekmurje is a flat green region and it is the best place for all types of bikers. There you can find different cycling routes. Some of them starts in Murska Sobota, some in Moravske Toplice. The bike paths are well maintined.
